Diwa Daily’s stripped and cleaned up

·

It looks like another year went by in silence. So much has happened, but I didn’t (emphasis on the intention) take the time to write about it.

Yet, it’s funny how the subtle cues could rekindle the spark and lead me back here.

New look who dis?

I was going working through my inbox when I opened an email from WordPress.com showcasing the newest themes for June 2023. I noticed the second theme in the list—Poema.

The theme reminded me of the many years spent crafting my poetry and building my brand site on WordPress, all in an effort to find and create my identity as a Filipino English-speaking poet. That sense of loss and uncertainty, along with newer discoveries and passions, eventually led me to a different path.

I then saw the first them on the list called George Lois.

George Lois (1931-2022) was one of the most creative, prolific advertising communicators of our time. To honor his iconic style, we created this text-forward theme that utilizes bold yet classic typography and colors. Perfect for the blogger who wants to minimize visual clutter while still making a statement.

As soon as I opened the demo, I felt an instant spark. The cleanliness of both the design and typography drew me in. It reminded me of the classic blog theme where everything was to the left side and the words were center stage.

Without even thinking about it, I turned off my old theme and turned on George Lois for Diwa Daily. I deactivated some plugins that didn’t have purpose anymore and added a simple navigation menu at the top.

Just what I needed to get back into writing everyday.

It looks like I’m back.✨

Short chapters

I want to (re)start my blogging journey while keeping overwhelm at bay.

Short spurts of updates about what’s transpired will be my theme for July ’23.

I’m excited. Very excited. I’ve not felt this about my blog in a while, so it’s invigorating to see what this will lead to.
